The Resurrection

John 11:25 "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

Last week we read through the second part of John (the adults of the family along with a neighbor). We spent a lot of time discussing contradictions found between what is written in the Bible and what has been taught by tradition or religion. It is awesome to see the Word of God becoming more alive and real to them as they begin reading it for themselves and testing the truthfulness and accuracy of things they have always believed. I am praying for the desire they have to seek the full truth to continue to grow!

During the week and continuing into the weekend, I was presented with a lot of opportunity to reflect on the concepts of death and resurrection. On Sunday, when we met at the Hostetter's home in Puerto Montt, we took some time to share an area of our life that required "putting to death" something in order for there to be a "resurrection" afterwards. It is was so sweet to recognize my being here as part of the resurrection that is a result of some previous desires and decisions that I chose to put to death previously. I am blessed as I see the fruit God is growing in me and in my life and ministry. I know that I would not be seeing this fruit had I chosen to ignore the direction of God in the times when it was painful. Sometimes it is necessary to let certain dreams or desires of my own die in order for God to pour out the abundant life He desires for all His children to have.

Enough of my reflections... :) Here are some pictures of the family and some "Resurrection Pictures"!

"Resurrection Buns"
We made these with Dustin and Sarah and the kids over the weekend. We used marshmallows to represent Jesus' body, butter and cinnamon sugar to represent embalming oils and spice. As the bread bakes, the marshmallows melted, creating an empty tomb! Very fun Easter treat!

My wonderful friend/sister Elizabeth getting the marshmallow goodies off of the pan :)
